Speedtest came up with much the same values, around 6MB down and 0. I always thought a wired connection was supposed to be faster than wireless but I seem to be the exception to the rule. I honestly am out of ideas given my limited knowledge of routers and internet so was hoping someone here might bea ble to talk me through the troubleshooting process so I don't have to wait an hour for every GB patch that comes out for R6 or any other game.
I don't know off the top of my head what details you require so please let me know and I will post them below.
Thank you in advance for your time and help, oh and yes I have tried turning off the router and leaving it and turning it back on, no change at all. Are you possibly mixing up speeds reported in bits per second, with speeds reported in bytes per second? There are 8 bits in 1 byte, broadband speeds, speed test results and network speeds in general are usually given using units based on bits kbps, Mbps.
It doesn't look like you're going to be able to get much more either I'm afraid. Your exchange only has an older technology and it doesn't look like there are any plans to alter this at the moment. Sign in.

Did you mean:. Slow download speeds on PC but not on Xbox? Posts: 3. Hi All, So I apologise in advance if this topic has been brought up and dealt with a million times, but going from Virgin Fibre Optic to Plusnet non fibre has been quite a difficult transition for me.
For instance I had an update for Rainbow Six Siege the other night which was a GB, that took me roughly an hour to do I'm just trying to think what could be throttling my download speeds on my PC I always thought a wired connection was supposed to be faster than wireless but I seem to be the exception to the rule I honestly am out of ideas given my limited knowledge of routers and internet so was hoping someone here might bea ble to talk me through the troubleshooting process so I don't have to wait an hour for every GB patch that comes out for R6 or any other game I don't know off the top of my head what details you require so please let me know and I will post them below Thank you in advance for your time and help, oh and yes I have tried turning off the router and leaving it and turning it back on, no change at all.
This issue is something I have been trying to resolve for a while now. I have noticed that my download speeds are really slow up to the point that some large games take all night to download. I first thought it was something with my router but I changed the router a while ago and it has still happened. I also contacted my ISP about this issue and they couldn't find what was causing the problem and they said it had something to do with the xbox console itself.
I tried also clearing the cache and it hasn't helped. I'm not sure what to do and the speed was really fast in the past so I'm completely stumped as to why it is so slow. Any Ideas? Wired or wireless for each console : If Wireless, are you using a white or black external adapter, or an internal Xbox S adapter?
If so, what is your NAT type? In the pop-up that appears, what are the following values, if shown? If a value below does not appear for you, just leave it blank. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. If Wireless, are you using a white or black external adapter, or an internal Xbox S adapter?
There is nothing I can think of that could be blocking the signal as the ps4 and ps3 I have are in the same spot and have a much faster download speed from where they are.
But, you should see something like a Wireless tab which has a Channel option. Change the Channel to something like 8 or Apologize again for late reply, but I tried changing the wireless channel with no noticeable effect. Another thing I did was manually set the settings for the network using googles DNS, but both of these haven't made a noticeable difference at all.
So I bought a wireless adapter dual band and I connected the xbox to my 5Ghz network on the router, and it seems to have made the download speed faster.
It is now 8 Mbps up and 16 Mbps Down. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. Search the community and support articles Devices and networking Gaming and Xbox Search Community member.
